Cinthio’s Hecatomithi is different from Othello on stage because Hugo falls in love with Desi. That is the main reason that Hugo wishes to destroy Othello’s life. He believes that is he cannot have Desi then neither can Othello. This would make an interesting aspect in Othello on stage because it would make Hugos attack on O more dynamic and interesting in a plot basis. I believe that Skakespeare chose for Othello to kill himself because it would make for a more dramatic ending. This is more of Shakespeares style to have shock value at the end of his plays.

Odin was very vulnerable to Hugos actions because of the people that were involved. Everyone relationship that Hugo ruined was extremely important to Odins life. Without these people, he could not carry on his basketball, and he could not be happy. Hugo knew this, and decided it would make his father dislike O and prefer him as his favorite again.

Hugo is portrayed as very selfish and jealous. Throughout the story it is shown that Hugo is unhappy about the relationship between O and his Father. Because of this, he has a motive to destroy Hugo’s life, and furthermore, the relationship between O and his father. He manipulates the other characters because each of them has a important relationship with O. Desi was his girlfriend, Mike was his best friend, and O’s father was his coach.  All these people had a very strong influence over O, and by destroying these relationships one by one; Hugo was able to destroy O’s life.
