Public Speaking Response (Same Sex Marriage)

Zach Wahls presented a very strong, and effective speech for gay marriage rights in Idaho. Wahls speech proved to catch the attention and emotion of many audience members, while also effectively aiding the pro gay marriage side of the debate. Some noticeable characteristics that showed to help Wahls in his argument during his speech include his hand gestures that drew the listener in to each sentence, his eye contact towards every direction of the audience, and his strong emphasis on different parts of sentences. I believe one of the major factors in Wahls powerful speech was that he was talking about an issue close to his heart. It was easy to believe that he was emotionally attached to the topic of gay marriage, and was very passionate about his side of the argument. He talked from personal experience of living under a gay marriage couple; Walhs was not only able to give first hand experience, but was also able to prove how he was an example of a extremely successful child of a same sex marriage. Overall Wahls presented an extremely powerful speech that will continue to benefit the argument with same sex marriage.
